T-Mobile UK unlimited data contract for only £6/month

Last month was the last month of my contract (bit of a weird sentence). Because of this I had to start doing some research on what new phones I could purchase and on the top of my list was the Galaxy Nexus. Unfortunately, T-Mobile UK weren’t selling this so I wasn’t able to upgrade to that phone so I was planning to cancel. Before I cancel I wanted to try my luck in terms of seeing what other offers they had. Here’s my story.

My previous contract offered me 600 minutes, 500 texts, unlimited tmobile calls (booster), and unlimited data (3GB FUP). I asked how much would it cost to go SIM free with the same deal and they had quoted me £10 per month for 12 months. That was a decent deal but I could get a similar Giff Gaff deal so I asked for a PAC number (for transferring my number to another network) which I instantly received.

A week later I had a call from the customer retentions department of T-Mobile UK, and I tried my luck again and after speaking for 5 minutes with the “manager” they offered me the same deal but for £11 per month instead which was rather strange as that is obviously more than before. I informed them that they had already offered me a better offer a week ago and then the lady instantly offered me the contract for £6 per month.

Because of this, it is easy to see how mobile phone companies like T-Mobile UK work and from this you can learn not to run with the first offer they give you. Being persistent is absolutely vital to get the best deal you can or you can do it my sisters way and tell them “my brother has got a £6 per month deal, can you give me something better” and as a result she got the same deal for £5 per month instead. If it helps you, then use it.

Update: T-Mobile Unlimited Contract – Full Monty

T-Mobile have just released their “Full Monty” plan! Check out this promotional video by T-Mobile.

It would have been good if this was out when I was renewing my contract so I could have seen what they could offer me.
